Chirumanzu Rural Development Council
Chirumanzu Rural District Council was established through Proclamation No. 1 of 1993 which amalgamated Takawira District Council and Charter Rural Council and established. The District Council derives its powers from the Rural District Council Act chapter 29:13. After the amalgamation Chirumanzu Rural District Council now has a communal area, a resettlement area and three urban areas namely Mvuma, Lalapanzi and Charandura under its jurisdiction. The council borders with Mhondoro ,Chikomba, Zibagwe, Vungu, Masvingo and Gutu. The district is composed of twenty five wards with twelve wards in the communal area, three in Mvuma, one in Lalapanzi and nine covering the resettlement area. The local authority has seven operational committees namely Social Services Committee; Human Resources and Administration Committee; Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee; Finance Committee; Roads and Works, Planning Committee and Audit Committee
The District has three growth nodes namely Charandura, Lalapanzi and Mvuma, the latter having been recently granted the Town board status. The District is also endowed with vast mineral deposits with the Great Dyke cutting across the District. Chirumanzu Rural District has 8 wards in the resettlement areas providing a background for Agricultural production. The district is set to benefit immensely from the giant Dinson Iron and Steel Company which is currently setting up base in Manhize area. The RDC is centrally located with the major regional transport route linking the SADC Region passing through the district. The district is also endowed with Gweru – Masvingo railway network linking the district to all the major cities within the SADC region.
